I was try in to connect profilux III ex to my PC, a message with "communication error.error code 28" is coming out for both USB & LAN connections.

Below are some adjustments i have done druing the connection:
1..Got Profiluxcontrol 5.0.6.0 installed under win 7, profilux III ex got 5.03c
2. Installed both drivers:FTDI chipset & :Prolific chipset on PC
3.change port no. to COM2 from Windows Device Manager>Ports(COM&LPT)>USB serial Port>Port Settings> Advance Settings> COM port Number, and leave others unchanged
4.change the port no. to COM 2 from ProfiluxControal 5.0.6.0>connection setttings >RS232> interface>COM, and also ticked RS 485 Delay option box, leave others unchanged.

And it's still not working, still had error 28

Plz help me.

Thx

are you using adapter or direct USB to USB not serial to USB adapter?
I am using profilux III ex, it has a USB port at back, I use a USB cable connect it directly to my PC's USB port, can I say it's direct USB to USB?

Thanks very much for your attention, Plz help me

Hi

sounds like windows is moving the port

please read this it applies to direct usb connection also

" can manually choose a Com port to emulate. In the scenario I encountered today we simply modified the "Virtual com Port" in the device Manager to operate as "Com2" which is usually a default Com port in traditional PC's."

is it what i have done as I have mentioned on my first post"3.change port no. to COM2 from Windows Device Manager>Ports(COM&LPT)>USB serial Port>Port Settings> Advance Settings> COM port Number, and leave others unchanged
4.change the port no. to COM 2 from ProfiluxControal 5.0.6.0>connection setttings >RS232> interface>COM, and also ticked RS 485 Delay option box, leave others unchanged."?

if NOT, where can I find the "Virtual com Port" in Windows device manager?

Looking forward to your reply. thx again

Have you restarted your computer since you made changes to the USB Serial port? If not you need to do that before your changes will work correctly, the driver will need to re-initialize.
