PM frags or colonies

rxx2--I think it's a relatively hardy coral. Heck, with that nice of growth, why change it around?

grew this from a 1/2" frag 2 years ago, even fragged it a few times and has already paid for itself plus a few.

Heres my little guy. Already putting down a nice base, have had it for about 2-3 weeks and it's already growing at a decent pace....

Turning a nice deep purple too and has the white polyps also.

sorry for the blurry pic.

have it at the top of my reef right under a 250w DE pendant w/ hamilton 14ks. in an RO III pendant BTW.

here is a pic from about 2-3 weeks ago when i first put it in the tank, you can see the growth along the base and how it colored up,

Thanks for that otolith. I'm happy with the growth. Have heard they color up a little better when lower, although I'm pretty happy with the color. I've just been real gun shy about fragging it. Have you fragged yours?

How do you think I helped pay for a colony that size? ;) Yes, I've fragged it, but now it is in the "let it grow" stage, like most other corals in my tank. If you blast them with light (like me:)), they do lighten up...but still look nice, regardless.

Does anyone know what the exact species name for this coral is? I have a similar shaped one that is a hazy mint green.

I also have the pm thanks to Sand Dollar. What I cannot figure out is the proper light level for this coral. I see a few pics that really bring out the purple in it. Mine have always been light purple in color. I also have my small colony up high. I have heard that the pm needs a lower light to really bring out the purple. Does this sound right?

Maybe that is why mine looks a little lighter than purple. I will move mine to the lower part of the tank tonight.

I have a colony of the PM.What I have noticed since having it.When you are running a "low nutrient" system, the PM has a hard time getting the deep purple color.Kinda of a washed out look.I talked to Eric from Fragfarmer,he said the same thing.that happened to his also.It really seems now the PM frags are really out there now.Not like before. It's nice to see these spread around more now.And when everybody's frags grow out, more will be out there again.
