Poccilo: base of colony bleaching!

josee1013

trying my best at this...
I noticed that the base of my blue-pink poccilopora is bleaching out... the colony is about 6x6 inch big...
This part is under so not really in the light...
Dont think it's RTN because it's not getting worse rapidly...
I dont see any bugs.. and no bite marks either...
I'm worried!
it's the only coral that is like this in the tank...

I have a large pocco also. Its base slowly bleached too from lack of light. If you thin it out a bit and get light back to the base it will color up again.

not sure... I think I dont see any tissue on that part :(

could it be STN???

If there is no tissue then it could be stn. When my larger poco colonies bleach at the base there is still tissue on them, just pure white and fuzzy. I have had larger acro colonies stn around the bases after having been shaded by its own branches. I think it is normal.

Is this the only affected SPS coral in the system?

edit: d'oh, didn't see the last line of the original post. If it was a parameter issue, like swinging ALK, wouldn't we see issues in more sensitive corals like acropora spp.? Might just be lack of light
