Hey guys and gals! Just picked this beauty up yesterday at Reef-a-palooza.

I apologize for the poor picture quality. I'll try to post a better pick soon.

I have always wanted a frag of this coral. It reminds me of all the times I've been to Hawaii. I love the cactus like shape.

Any way. I am hoping to hear from those of you with experience with this specific species. Not pocillopora in general such a damicornis.

Even if you tried and failed and especially from anyone who has been successfully keeping a colony.

Based upon my personal observations and on ready from texts, this species needs high light and high water flow. I have placed it in my tank where it can get both. The trick here will be the LEDs. Not looking to debate the ability to produce enough light as that has ragged on other threads. My problem is balancing enough light without turning up too fast and frying other frags!
My parameters:
S.G. 1.024
pH 8.4-8.5
Temp 79.5-80.0
Ca 400-420
dKH 10.5
Magnesium 1290
Nitrate 0
Phos 0 (Salifert)

Equipment: EuroSkimmer ( ? Model), alpha 2 bio-pellet reactor, 2-MP 40's, 48 3 watt CREE LEDs 1:1 RB:CW

Pretty cats paw. I have not had one years. I apologize but I did nothing special when I owned one. It was kept under metal halide.

Thanks Mordibv. Even though thats limited info. How long did you have it? How close to the halides was it? What wattage halides? Did it grow? If so, how fast did it grow?
Thanks, Chris

It was under 2 150 watt Iwasaki's and 2 75 watt vho .. See I told it was a long time ago :) . I kept it about mid way up in medium to high chaotic flow . I would not advise against any strong laminar type flow as the skin is soft and thin .Handle it carefully . U can damage the skin just by rough placement. It grew slowly . I kept it for about a year until the glass cages tank busted .

HTH

Still hoping someone out there has had enough experience out there to give me more insights. Someone who had a full colony? Someone who fragged the colony? It's such a cool coral, there have to be others out there with more experience on this one!
