Well guys, I had to dump half my cultures which makes me unhappy
My bedroom flooded and I am sleeping in my living room which makes me unhappy (sorta, I can veiw and hear my tank from bedside now, thinking about leaving it that way... cause I can).
My large culture has exploded in population and they're super healthy which makes me very happy!
It's time for a revamp, inbetween cleaning up after the flood I will be starting a second large culture of pods with the exact setup as the first since it simply works, and setting up another culture tub for.... you guessed it Mysis! If I find time tomorrow I'll be swingin by good ole exotic tropicals to see if I cant get an order in for a few jugs of phytofeast live (havent tried this stuff yet) and some mysis... you can bet as soon as it shows up it's off to the batlab!
Unfortunately my scope has not shown up yet (tracking shows it's in commerce city today which means tomorrow hopefully). So I cant delve deep yet, but I havent had the time anyhow. I was hoping to build some sort of tidal pool simulation tank and a planktonkreisel (circular flow tank as to keep plankton suspended) but with the flood all spare funds are nixed. Salright, gives me more time to think and research.
Anyone got any ideas on a small tidal simulation setup? I'd like to avoid pumps as impellers tend to do damage to the pods. I want to simulate high tide and low tide in a small environment (maybe 10-20 gallons) either manually or timed (preferrably timed) so I can start my next round of copepod madness. Raising and lowering tank level isnt so hard the trick is to do it slowly over time and go back again with no pumps... unless anyone knows of a pod safe pump mechanism I suppose....
Off to the drawing board
