Pods

I have a frag tank with a bare bottom and a fuge, which is full of pods and big ones at that. Could this be the reason some of my zoas are not opening? I see pods crawling all over them, day and night. Some of the zoas are just disappearing. Could the pods be eating them? If so, will get a clown goby or 6 line wrasse. TIA

there are some strains of pods that are observed to eat zoas. plus, if they keep crawling all over your zoas, they'll never open up.

i just had this problem. it is best to get a predator of the pods to take care of it. my boyfriend also poured the topoff water directly on the zoas which helped alot.

id go with a mandarin... wrasse seems to get lazy, and mandarins eat mostly live organism...

I would only get a mandarin if you have a system that can support them after your amphipods are thinned out. There are becoming harder and harder to find in the wild. Some are saying that they could show up on the red list soon.

Get a small yellow coris, green coris or anytype of fairy. They hunt all day. They inspect every colony all day.
