point of refugium?

Fwiw. I ran my 180 for 2 years with no water changes and no skimmer. Those who saw my tank were amazed at the lack of algae in my display and the health of my corals. I used an algae scrubber for about a year, then got even lazier and just grew a big wad of chaeto in my sump. I also ran a ton of liverock and a lighter bioload than most on here. Bottom line the algae growing in your fuge is a lot less likely to kill your corals than algae growing in your display is. I am NOT saying you should try what I did, just saying there's more than one way to run a tank successfully. Research all you can before jumping in and your chances of success will be much higher.

OMG, someone has been paying attention in class.

Cuzza gets a cookie!

Haha. I do listen to you John and "sometimes comprehend" what you're saying. And I love me some chocolate chip cookies.

Cuzza. That's makes more since then any thing I have read about refugium. +++1111

Rethinking my new sump for my 180. Thanks

You're welcome. I spend too much time reading about all this stuff. Lol

Main purpose for having a refugium is to prevent pH fluctuations from day and night

Yup. Main reason I would run 1. Any thing else is just a bonus. Extra water volume, nutrient reduction, natural food population, minimize algae in display, area to put aggressive fish or new fish and can monitor.

Personally I don't run one but that's a space thing. Personally I can't think of a negative to them. Just pros.
