Poiseidon has blessed me. (with pics)

Okay, lost another baby. Down to 9 of them. I'd like to say this wasn't my fault, but again it was. I overfed the brine shrimp and they were all dead before I got home, i tried to feed em anyways, but i don't think the babies liked them. so I had a day and a half down with no food for em and by the time I got more shrimp ready the runt of the litter was down and out.

Have you tried any frozen foods? Any chance something like cyclepeeze or mini-mysis (sold by H2O Life) might work?

Captn. do you know anywhere locally that sells the mini-mysis? that sounds like it may do the trick. I've tried chopped up frozen mysis and cyclopeeze, but i don't think there actually eating it much. I did notice them munchin' on the cyclopes after soaking them in garlic for a while but it seems they were just tasting it.

hiflykitty: I didn't even think about it until after I had more shrimp hatched. and yes, I did kick myself in the butt for not thinking about it sooner.

for what it's worth, the latest casualty was the tiney runt of the liter, he's always looked a bit "off" so it didn't really suprise me that he didn't make it. The rest do look alot bigger and fatter.

Not sure locally, but I'd guess that any store can get some in. H2O life is a pretty common brand. Might even try a petsmart.

If all else fails, I would be glad to bring you a package to the meeting next week. My LFS sells them for about $4-$5 or so.

I'll let ya know on that captn. I may have ya do that just so I can try em out for everybody else too. My bangaii's have bigger mouths than my clownfish and i swear they go for the tiney pieces first, then once it's down to only big mysis that the clowns can't get, in the bangaii's take their time eating em. how messed up is that. bunch of punks.

(On a side note, I LOVE mini-mysis. They are a great little food. Lots of things in my Ardmore tank go for them big time. And H2O life also sells some tiny foods that are cool too - they have a flat pack called "Coral Food" that is a mix of rotifers and copepods and other tiny stuff. I don't know how much it helps, but I love having something like that to feed to my tank.)

Serra, I don't have the tank set up for them yet. I have all the babies in a breeding net for now. I'm in the process of seting up a 20L with sump for a small saltwater grow out tank. Once that's completed these guys will be going in their. I had a tank set up for them but it became unavailable about a week prior to them being released. so, they gotta deal with the breeding net for now.

Captn. That's awesome, I never seen those cubes before, just the standard basic stuff that i don't need.

I can bring some of that up to you as well, if you like... :)

Or better yet, just harass one of our sponsoring OKC LFS to get some of the stuff for you.

I have a little 2.5 gal tank with sponge filter you can borrow until you get your 20 up and running if you need one. Has a light and heater too. Let me know and I can bring it to the meeting.

That's awesome Serra, I really appreciate the offer but by then my 20 should be up and runnin. I've got a couple different sponge filters going in the sump, been in there for a few weeks now to help cycle em properly.

If you happen to be interested in selling the little 2.5g setup let me know though. I've been wanting to get one but I can't seem to justify spending the money for a 2.5 when I can get a 10g for the same price. (who decides on these prices anyways-geeze)
