Polyp Colouration Tips

Does anybody have any tips on improving polyp colouration? I'm even open to additives (Are there any zeo products intended to help polyp colouration?), suggestions, or voodoo chants?

One of my favorite pieces (of which I have a tale of woe and triumph for), was a purple "tort" like coral with bright green polyps. I found something was picking on it for a while and when I removed the issue and the polyps started to come back out during the day they were no longer green. Now none of the new growth is either.

It's easy to find lots of information on how to improve your corals "tissue" colouration but polyps seems to be not a topic often discussed or understood.

Have any of you tried to address polyp colour with any luck?

Great question and from what I have been told there is a zeo products tha work well, also oyster feed is supposed to do the trick as well just haven't tried it.

I'm following along.

I've wondered the same thing. I used to buy frags from a LFS, I frequented when I lived in VA. The polyps on their Acros would have a slightly better extension, but they were almost always dark brown. Once in my tank for a while, they would change to something translucent. I always wondered why.

- I feed a combination of reef roids, and oyster feast.

- 20k Radiums 250w SE in Luminarcs. I changed the ballast at some point but the colour shift happened months later after a fish was harassing the coral.

- The polyps are now purple/blue.

The only other change i can think of may be some shading as other corals have grown but this piece has done well to grow up and at an angle to not get shaded

For reference
A 8 months or so old photo and not the best from before the polyp colour shift.
