Polywise's 300 glass reef with equipment room

For those of you who followed any of my saga this summer, I am almost over the emotional pain I received from the crash of my mature SPS system that was running at my office for the last 6.5 years.

I toyed with buying a new different sized tank to install in my house to get back into the swing of things without looking at the original tank -- having to remember what happend on that one day. I have gotten past those feelings, and have decided to incorporate my existing tank and equiment, along with some added technology, and do things a bit differently this time around. Hope you all enjoy watching the build progress between now and the end of year.

The placement of my equipment room (187 square feet) is in my basement in a corner of my house. It will have easy acess from the stairs coming from the living area in the house. I have installed a slop sink, marked off the area that will be the room, and begun framing.

Glad to see you're on the mend! I'm really curious to see what you're going to do differently.

The framing is done, I installed a 36" exterior door to keep the air and humidity in the room, and not in the rest of the basement.

This week I plan on addressing some tricky plumbing, drains, venting, and electrical boxes.

next week I am planning on sheetrocking, and painting.

Week after that I hope to start making the transfer.

Remember that I am doing this myself, and only a hour or two per night when I can get the time.

I got some in the wall plumbing done this week, and bought supplies for the electrical, and ventilation system that I will be doing. Today, going to HD to get sheetrock supplies, and 4.5" hole saw for in and out vents to the outside.

electrical is done (7) 20 amp circuts
venting system is installed
packed away all of my tools
now it is on to sheetrocking.....
after that, I am hoping to have the painting complete with two coats ( hopefully ) by end of next week.

I have installed 3 hvac ducts in the room. One is a fresh air supply, and the other two on opposite ends of the room, are for exhaust hooked up to controlled fantec in line fans installed outside, under my front porch.

update: due to work obligations - one of my main employees got stuck on jury duty and I was not able to put as much time into the project over the last two weeks as I had hoped to.

The primer coat is on(2 coats). This week, I need to top coat the walls, and install the base molding, and paint the floor. I am taking a few days off next week, so I should get a bunch done.

During the week I will be working on my unique frag tank set up. I had bought it with hopes to use as extra growing space due to my 280 being overgrown. Obviously that never happed due to my tank crash this past summer. It is a 48x48x16 starfire rimless. Making the stand out of cinderblock and 2x6's. As you will see in the pictues once the tank is in place. The location of the tank allows me to completly walk around all four sides. It is in the middle of the room it is in. The entire system is being plumbed with 2" PVC so I wanted it on line in the fishroom from the get go. I have purchased plumbing fittings, ball valves, true unions, check valve all fron savko, and marine depot.

I will take some pictures once the painting is all done, and then more as things progress.
