Pom Pom Boxer Crab Mammography

I posted this in my local club forum but thought I'd share here.

I have a 7 gallon cube set up at work (I work in a hospital) with a female pom pom boxer crab in it. I have had her for 2+ years. Every once in a while I find her molt in the corner of the tank, half eaten on the sand bed. Recently I happened to glance in the tank just as she was kicking the molt off her legs. I pulled out the totally intact molt and spread it out to dry. The next day I headed down to our Imaging departmenty. Regular X-ray didn't work well since we couldn't zoom in enough on the 2" skeleton. We tried the mammo unit with a magnify device for those small lumps. Here is the result of the X-ray.

Thanks everyone. I'm sure it was the most expensive photo shoot I'll ever have. We shot it on film several times before we got the exposure correct. We tried the digital scan but the film was actually clearer and able to be scanned to create a higher res digital image. The molt was so small you can even see the film grain throughout the light areas of the body. A radiologist friend of mine was really impressed.

Glad to see our hospitals' equipment is being put to good use .

Seriously - that looks pretty darn cool. :D
