I just found one on a new piece of live rock ($8 altogether), I read on http://melevsreef.com/, on the id page that they do not live for long periods in captivity. Is there anyway to keep them living? It's a really interesting little guy...

I dont know what mine eats, or where he is half the time, but he is growing and molts often, I have had him for maybe 6-7 months.

Umm, i just came across this thread and decided to go see if i could find mine. And i also found my smaller sally lightfoot, in the clutches of the pom-pom. It's a pretty small sally but its still bigger than the pompom. Could it have even killed it? just how strong are those anemones?

Edit: i found my little sally lightfoot, and my big one! Turns out its tearing apart another sally that had hitchhiked and didnt make it i guess.

I have had mine for over a year, never have had to do anything special for him he just eats crap off the sand.

Not sure if the story of them not doing well in captivity is true but plenty of people have these and keep them, I'd chalk that up to another reef myth.

Yep well im a moron, it was actually the first molt of my larger sally lightfoot! ha ha!

Here's a pic of my little fella under "his" rock.

Well I have only had mine for a couple of months. She had eggs but I don't see them on her anymore..I was hoping I would get a picture of her with her eggs. I just looked at her today and I guess the eggs ended up being fish food. She likes mysis shrimp, cyclops and fish food that ends up in the sand. She will even take some mysis from the feeding tongs.

I have also had mine for a couple of months, in that time the anemones have gotten larger, and you dont see them often, I have noticed though that once my day lights go out and the actnics are all that are on it wanders about more

PREGGERS!

I caught little lady(apparently) feeding this evening and saw a nice red splotch. EGGS! So i snapped a few shots.

I had one for a couple months, and his Pom Poms were huge, well I ran across another one at a Lfs, and snatched it up as the Lfs doesn't have ideal conditions imo.

Anyways, dropped the little girl(eggs) in and I noticed she no longer had her pom pom that she had at the store, so I'm guessing when they netted her, she lost it.

Well my little guy eventually ran across her and gave her one of his Pom Poms, then they both managed to split them into 2. Shortly thereafter though one died, and I don't know what happened to the other one...

Awesome crabs though :mixed:

I've had mine (Menthu) for about two months now. He just molted a week ago which scared me to death. Girlfriend called and told me my crab died! Came home and it was just a molt. His anemones are still pretty small but he didn't arrive in the greatest of conditions. Kind of hard to feed in a 3g tank with just him and some corals. I do feed Coral Frenzy and it seems he likes it.
