pom pom crabs

mine is 3 inches from leg to leg great little fellers hides a couple of days then is out and about for a week or so loves been target fed - and has an aip in one claw

Another tidbit of information:

There are two different varieties of these crabs. They have very similar (if not same) mannerisms, but one is more red and the other is pink. I've been looking for a place that sells the red ones... but one place in particular that I emailed was showing the red pic on their website, but they were selling pinks. Anybody know where the red ones can be bought?

Mine comes out of ALL sorts of holes in the rocks (that i thought didnt lead anywhere)

I think she has managed to map out my whole tank, as she always pops out of somewhere new when i start to feed

Just figured I'd add my experience. I've had my pom pom crab for over a year now. She's absolutely fabulous. Got her without doing any research (which is very unusual for me normally I look up EVERYTHING before I buy) but have never regretted it. I've been really lucky, my pom pom crab comes out at least once a week during the day and more typically every day for feedings (generally pellets with frozen 2-3x/week). Sometimes she just comes out for no reason, which is always very exciting. She's housed with 2 clown-fish, a blue-legged hermit crab and a recently introduced skunk cleaner shrimp in 14 gallon biocube. I've seen her anemone's brush up against zoas, acans, ricordeas and toadstools without witnessing any negative reaction from the coral (they're much more irritated by my beloved cleaner shrimp running all over them). I would absolutely recommend them for any nano or pico. :)

Bumping this thread. Just got a tiny tiny one two days ago. Today I fed him for the first time. Dropped a small piece of frozen Mysis about 1/4 his size next to him. He slid it towards him with one of his legs and ate the whole thing. Fatty. He hasn't moved since. Must be in a "food coma."
