I am creating a wet/dry system for my 60G and would like to know if anyone has used a "pond pump"(ie MAG9.5 or a Sunterra) in thier sump?? I am placin a 20H under my 60 an need some info on a good pump....

I like using the "pond" versions of most all submersible pumps I buy... the big difference is usually a nicer input screen and a substantially longer cord, usually like 20' or so.

If you want my advice on a "good" return pump you will be very happy with, I'd recommend looking at a Pan world or Sequence external pump. more energey efficient, more powerful, and they won't add heat to your tank like a submersible pump will.

Good Luck!!

To answer your question, yes the Mag's are fine to use in the sump as a return.

With that said, an Eheim 1260/1262 would be a better choice.

I don't think a dart, or even a snapper would be a good choice for a 60g.

FWIW, a Mag9.5 is probably major overkill, unless you have 800gph+ of overflows in your tank. I'd use a smaller Mag.
