Poor Chalice

I posted this in the LPS forum but wanted to see what you guys and gals think...

My Torch Coral made contact with my Chalice (thinking sweepers over night but not 100% positive) and this is what happened:



A lot of the surface has brown (burn spots?) and one section you can see has completely lost tissue. Will this heal on its own? Should I clip it? Not sure what to do so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'd monitor it frequently (every few hours at first) and make sure it isn't RTNing. If it is, frag it asap with no dead areas kept. If it looks stable (which is what I think it will be) it should heal itself. I'd guess you've already moved the torch.
Are the brown areas spreading? Could they be the brown jelly? That could make the survival slim if they are.
FWIW, I had what I think is the same chalice and lost it over a day without warning and I remember the same thing happening to Brian Greene (sp) in his display tank a few years ago just before the meeting there. His was dinner plate sized.

The brown has maintained shape/size for a few days (not increasing or decreasing), and the area of tissue loss has not spread either. And yes, torch has been put into an isolated area of tank until it apologizes for what it did. Thanks for the help!

That's a great question..... I think it's a Hollywood Stunner but could be very wrong. I picked it up from Creative Aquariums last year, they have a few small pieces of this chalice and a few huge colonies around the store.
