Poor color, what am I doing wrong?

Just got a big bottle or Roti feast and Oyster Feast. The best time to feed is at night?

Thanks for the help everyone!

Hi Ira,

I feed two hours after the lights go out. It will take a couple of weeks at the minimum (IMHO) for you to begin to see results. Please keep us updated.

Warmest Regards,
James

I'm taking your advice and trying one thing at a time, got my Radieon up to 45% and I am going to let it there why I try feeding for the next month or two to see if I get any positive results.

Do you think it would matter if I fed 2 hours before the lights came on rather than 2 hours after they go out? I am rarely up late enough to feed 2 hours after lights out.

Sounds good! There is nothing wrong with feeding a couple hours before the lights come on. Be sure to take some before and after pics.

Good Luck!

In my novice & humble opinion I think todays technology of skimmers and lighting is giving corals over skimmed and over lit tanks causing a lot of pale SPS. Seems like threads years ago were only about brown corals (typically too much P04).

The right amount of high quality food for your tank that can be correctly exported while keeping param's stable.

Ok, currently dosing about 1 ml of Oyster feast and Roti Feast a day, starting to see some slight improvements in a few coarls but am getting a cyano bloom now. I am guessing this is in response to over feeding the feast combo, correct? So, I should backoff and start feeding less, right?

Thanks for any input.

Ira

Everything has to be done VERY slowly. Your tank needs time to adjust.

I'm a fan of high quality mysis and pellets and let it do the job of feeding the corals.

Hi Ira,

Hope all is well!

A little bit goes a long way with this food. I would use the minimum dosage of .8 ml oyster and 1.6 ml roti for your tank. Also, are you still adding trace elements, feeding mysis, and adding reef roids? Can you please post what your phosphate levels are before and after feeding. By testing your water before and after, you will know exactly how much phosphate you are adding to your tank. I usually wait 8 hours to test after I feed. Also, I am a huge advocate of regular water changes. Have you given any thougt to performing weekly water changes? You could dilute your nutrient levels and add trace elements with weekly water changes. As Anthony Calfo says "Dilution is the Solution to Polution".

Cham made a very good point:

I'm glad that your already seeing improvements in colors.

Warmest Regards,
James
