So i picked up a diopter kit and used the +4 and the +10 lens. Not bad semi macro shots for under 30.00
Any tips to maybe get in even closer would be great. Someday ill have the money saved up for a macro lens. The pics are taken with a Canon Rebel XS with 55mm lens

and a couple more, please let me know what you think. I am wondering if i get another +10 for two together if it will magnify even more, but it seems like the camera has to be pretty close to the subject

Also, this was without tripod. I found out i have to be atleast 5" or closer, or i couldnt get the camera to focus

Most of these shots are pretty blurred out. I highly recommend you use a tripod, especially before you attempt to increase magnification even more. It sounds like a neat project, you just need to get all the pieces together. No sense in building a stock car and taking it to the track with doughnut tires.

I wouldnt say the blur is horrible its just a style of bokeh pretty much, not all of them are distracting, some make the main subject of the picture stand out, In a up close macro picture sometimes a clear background can be just as distracting and take away from the true focus of the picture. Overall nice pics, and keep at the practice.
