Popeye help

My Vlamingi tang has Popeye, it just started yesterday. Both eyes but one is worse than the other. He is still swimming normaly and eating but seem scared. He's in my DT and I don't know of any way to get him out. I have increased O3 in the skimmer from 4 hrs a day to 24 in an effort to keep it from spreading to other fishes.

It will usually go away on its own as long as hes healthy and eating. Some medications can help like Seachem Metroplex, Focus and Poly Guard.

Sorry to disagree but it will not go away on its own. Usually they lose the eye or worst yet, they die. i have cured 2 sensitive fish of popeye, in the past using Kanaplex. I have also had two friends cure their own fish after recommending Kanaplex to them.

Sorry to hear. I’ve had a few fish heal/return to normal on their own without me doing anything. Only had one fish actually lose the eye. But like said before as long as it’s eating and seems normal, there’s a good chance it will recover. Hoping the best outcome, good luck!

Popeye is not something that would spread to other fish. It's a bacterial issue. Needs antibiotics to cure. If you'd want to save the fish, needs to be put in a hospital tank and treated. Otherwise could lose the eyes, and possibly the fish. The ozone will not help the situation.

My Anthias had one, went away after 2-3 weeks. I didn’t treat it with anything.

Mark, bacterial infection usually not a big problem in tank with good husbandry like yours.
Sometimes you may have other problems like fluke to make you believe it's pop eye.
Is the eyes clear or cloudy? If it's clear, I will keep feeding and keep up with WC and keep the fingers crossed.

Same here. When my flame wrasse developed Popeye I let it be and was gone in a couple weeks. Use some garlic, selcon in the food Mark

I’m about 99% sure it was caused by this little A-hole PBT that kept packing fights with everyone and went got himself killed.

Eyes are clear.
