I have a green monti that has ecrusted on a very large rock that I want gone. There is now way of removing the rock so does anyone know of a way for me to...., hate to say it...., eliminate it. The monti is starting to grow on another rock and in due time, will come up on other colonies resulting in a war. I like the other mini colonies a whole lot more so would rather keep them. Plus, if I get rid of the monti, it'll free up real estate for new tenants. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can u take the rock out and cut up a heap of frags of the monti?
Then u could just kalk paste the last of it, that will kill it off fast

The rock is a large piece and by taking it out, I would need to tear down half the tank. At this point, breaking down the tank is out of the question. Thanks for the tip though. Are there any other options?

The only thing I've seen kill a monti has been an Acro growing into it. But it would depend on the species of Monti. If it is a cap, it's weak, but a Digi is strong. Could you glue the Acros you like right on top of it.

kill the pumps and palace a bit of kalk solution on what ever parts you want. You will have to kill it incramentally but it should work fine.

What is the recipe for kalk paste? Is it kalk with a little water to make it thick? How would I apply it?

Can you break of large pieces first with a screwdriver? The kalk paste (easiest is a thick sludge with a syringe) will work but do it in pieces (as above) and keep an eye on your pH

I pulled an encrusting out of my tank the other week. I took a screw driver and popped as much as I could off the rock (in the tank), and then the areas where it was coming in contact with the corals i wanted it to stop killing, i just scraped away with that same screw driver.. felt bad but it's growing happily in my frag tank now and had this 2cm death radius around it that was just doing to much damage to other corals.

I use kalk paste all the time to stop corals from encrusting, mix up kalk and water to the consistency of a milkshake, turn off your powerhead a and apply the paste with a syringe, I use the syringe that comes with test kits, let it sit for about 5 mins and then siphon the kalk out and your are good to go, very easy and painless
