Thank you for the first thread in this forum. I was able to use the links in there to identify this algae in my tank. The information indicated that this species is not suitable for a marine aquarium, but did not specify why.
It showed up about a month after I brought in some things from Florida. It is growing on a quarter sized rock fragment, is not spreading, and grew very slowly at first, but has really taken off the past month.
Anyone know anything about this? Most of the sites I find discuss it as for it's bio-pharmaceutical properties, or discuss it as a crop from Asia.
