Wow, those are interesting little critters. Don't look like pods to me either, but I don't know what they could be.

I'll be interested to see what the experts ID them as.

Isopods. Great fish food for real finicky fish like mandarins and pipefish. They really don't reproduce as well as you think. A single mandarin will make short work of what you think is a population explosion. That's a really nice clear picture of those tiny buggers by the way.
