I just got a copperband butterfly for my 120 and the yellow tang is not happy. Will they adjust or am I in trouble?

my copperband was very finicky when confronted... a friend had one that was agressive. i thiink it depends on the fish. a copperband has a nice weapon in his top fin. who seems to be the agressor?

the yellow tang is having the problem....copperband would be happy as could be if he was left alone....

copperbandsare really cool i love the way they fallow over the rockwork.. upside down and around. do alot of that when theyre fighting also. very acrobat , ithink its a cool fish hope it works out

I would say give it a few days. The Yellow has established the tank as his territory and is showing his dominance, it needs to get used to any new fish put in, especially anything remotely similar. I expect it to work it out over the next few, though there is always the chance any fish will become a completely bully.

I added a Yellow Longnose Butterfly that my PB Tang didn't care for. As mentioned above, the Butterfly used its top fin for defense. After a few days, everything was ok. I think the Tang just wanted the Butterfly to know where its territory is.
The Tang also did the same when I added a Racoon Butterfly and everything is good now.

My yellow tang beats up any new acquisitions. It usually lasts a few days. However, everyone once and a while it will show similar looking fish who's boss. I think rockwork can also help. Sometimes rock outcroppings and ridges keep the fish from constantly being in line of sight of one another.

Thanks everyone. They are already simmering down....Shawn, you're the man....thanks for all you help yesterday
