Possible Mods (24g NC)

I've got my 24 g JBJ NC and I was thinking of adding a 10-15g sump (fuge and nice deep sand bed for extra nitrate removal). Has anyone tried this? I figure it'll help with cooling issues as well, I currently use a little clip on fan on my NC and during the course of a day I can drop the temp up to 6 degrees. My plan is to add a 150-175W MH this summer and with the extra gallons and the fan I hope to alleviate the need for a chiller. Let me know what ya'll think.

I saw no one replied so I thought I would. See my signature for my setup. Not nearly as much extra water as a true sump would provide but it works
