Possible Parasite On Fin

I'm not sure what it is. I have a PBT in QT and I've treated with a 7 day and a 5 day round of prazi pro. It's been a couple weeks since the prazi and I see a very small object on her dorsal fin close to her face, it's shaped like a grain of rice but much much smaller. Whitish brown in color.

Any ideas? I haven't treated for ICH yet but it doesn't look like any ich I've ever seen.

Thanks.

I've researched these parasites:

Brooklynella hostilis
Turbellarian Infection
Monogenetic Trematodes
Trichodina
Uronema marinum

and none of them fit. Any ideas? The object is very small, about the size of 3 or 4 grains of sand (maybe a lil more but in that ball park)

I have the QT full of live rock that I really don't want to remove. The fish is feeding on the LR and loves using the "cave" I have in it for shelter.

I was getting ready to move him to the DT since he's been in QT for a month and putting on weight nicely and looking great. Can I just fresh water dip him and move to the DT?

Hmmm. i have the same symptoms with a Emperor angel I have in QT too. Have him for two weeks already and the dots on the fins and tails are still there. I had my temp at 81 degrees and treating with Cupramine for two weeks along with PraziPro. I also freshwater dip twice without the spots moving.

I also know how ich looks like since I had it a couple times before too, but these spots are more stubborn than ich too and doesn't 'disappear' like ich do in a day or two and show up somewhere else.

I'm thinking mines might be lymphocytosis (sp?).

If your PBT is doing well in QT, I would be in no rush to move it for another week or so to monitor some more.

Very interesting, I just read up on the disease and it only usually affects fins. I also noticed his pectoral (swim fins) have a couple very small cloudy spots. His entire body looks perfect but his two fins and that one "spot" on his dorsal.

When I got him he was very skinny but he is eating very well and his spine that was easily visible before is now no longer visible. He seems calm, happy and healthy. I'd like his breathing to slow down a bit, it seems a little fast but not crazy fast.

When I got him I first gave him a 50 minute dip in formalin before going into a new QT that no fish had ever been in. Then immediately 7 days of prazi (he did have parasites) followed by 3 days off and then 5 more days of prazi. I'd like to think that between the formalin and prazi that I've ruled out typical parasites (yes no?). So your idea may very well be true.

I'll keep him in QT awhile longer and watch him.

How long have you noticed the spot? If it's new, I would give it some time before worrying about it. Any chance you could get an image?

+! If the spot doesn't grow or spread---it's probably nothing to worry about and will probably disappear with time. If it does grow or spread, let us know. New fish can bring along. all sorts of small sores, possibly from capture & shipping.

It just showed up, it's so small it's hard for me to get a look at it. I'd likely shoot hundreds of shots and need CSI magnification to post it. It's bigger than an ich spot, maybe double the size max but still very small and hard to see.

I'll extend the original QT time to a min of a week after all visible spots have gone.

Neither Formalin dips or Prazi-Pro will get rid of most protozoan parasites. Ich, Oodinium (velvet), or Brooklynella.

I knew that much. My thought was that I can usually readily see ich, velvet and brook. I was worried about any unseen parasites in the gills or internal (not so much internal now that I've seen so much weight gain in such a short time, but more gills).
