If you wanted to be by seaworld the 192 stretch and kissimmmee and i drive and sandlake areas are pretty close. Those areas may be a little cheaper because they aren't as pristine as some of the less touristy more community based areas you can find in Orlando.
If you are worried about not affording places I'd stay away from Winter Park- amazingly awesome place to hang out but very big nice houses and generally pretty $$ as far as I can tell.
There are a few communities meant to be like the close-knit old fashion town with little shops restaurants schools etc inside the community like Baldwin Park or Avalon Park. They aren't overly expensive with the housing market the way it is if you're looking in the 200-300 range. We are in a townhome in AP that I think goes in that range.
There are a lot of tech companies in Orlando now that are going in by UCF which is East Orlando where if you don't stay with busch you could check into and there are also some toward downtown.
The east side of Orlando I'm familiar with is a little funny because you can start out in a college town and head towards downtown orlando. On the way about halfway inbetween there's a little bit of farmland and smaller less expensive houses (I also think older houses too, they had lots of tarps on them from the hurricanes we had a few years ago)
I really think the best you could do is come down and just drive around a lot.
If you go east there's more uh, when I say farmland its very small like.. a house with a big yard and chickens - more of that out toward Titusville and Daytona. smaller towns like Christmas and Bithlo are out that way.. that's really roughing in
If you go west past Orlando you'll run into Clermont which is where my folks have retired. Place looks like it doesn't belong in Florida. It's a little bit hilly, growing fast but has a little bit of older town charm in its tiny downtown area, kind of between O town and Tampa (if you ended up working with that section of Busch.
There's my morning ramblings for you Travis.
Don't forget to put pics of your tank and mushrooms to make these fine orca folks drool ;p Not sure how often they pop into the other forums I see you in hehe
