Possibly the best way to clean algea off acrylic!!

By no means am I saying this is safe for the reef tank or saltwater in general. At my work we use Mr. Clean magic eraser pads to clean the algea off of the acrylic tanks, until now it had never dawned on me to try this at home. Tonight was the first time I have tried this and it worked amazingly. I cleaned my entire front panel in a matter of minutes what would take an algea pad 15 or 20 and with sore fingers at that. Again I'm not a 100% sure it is completelyt safe for salt but I figured it was worth a try, and since it is ok to use on fresh I figured what the heck. So let me know what you guys think or maybe if people are already doing this.

Seems safe

The Mr. Clean Original Duo and Extra Power Erasers are comprised of melamine foam that cleans like a mild abrasive and contains no additional chemicals. Our Foaming Cleanser contains a small amount of mild detergent. Use of Magic Eraser on the skin may result in mild discomfort comparable to what one would receive from rubbing the skin with very fine sandpaper, but will not cause chemical burns.

Well all seems well so far. Like I said we have been using them at my work for some time now. It's just awesome how well it works.

I thought soaps in general were bad for fish fresh or salt.

the main in gredient in magic eraser is sodium chloride (SALT) so i don't see why it would be bad other than maybe long term from the "mild detergent"?

I used it a few hours ago. I will look at the package when I go to work tomorrow and see if maybe there are different types of this eraser or if there is only one. But my corals are out and my fish are swimming so who knows maybe give it a few days to see what others say and if my tank crashes. Hopefully the tank crashing isn't what it takes though.HAHA
