Here is a post crash update....

First, here's what's left:

1 psychedelic Mandarin
1 Blue Tang...that is currently living in my predator tank with an eel and lion fish

1 emerald crab
1 peppermint shrimp
1 GIANT I never saw it before crab I noticed the other day while removing ALL of the live rock to scrub the dead and dying stuff off

and a handful of blue leg and scarlett hermit hermit crabs

*****************

Currently the Ammonia is at 0.25 (Down from 7.0!) the Nitrite and Nitrate are still very high and I'm starting to get a diatom bloom and some beginnings of hair algae...looks like little blades of grass at this point....if anyone has extra Cerith Snails that would be great.

I'm hoping the Nitrite and Nitrate come down fast, but it will likely be another 3-4 weeks until I can start restocking.

On the positive side I like the new rockscaping I was able to do.

Sorry to hear that there was so much loss....that really sucks. If it's ready for the October meeting I think I can cut a frag or two for you. Maybe a green slimer and a Paletta baby blue..that's if you want to keep acros again..

I'm pretty sure you're right. Next time I'm just going to scoop off the 1st inch and pitch the rest...start new and seed it with the top layer

The frustrating thing was that I had everything in a 100g tub and only the "polluted" water went into the tub, the sand was in smaller tubs and buckets...the tub crashed...not the tank...and in just 3 days.

Sorry it's taking so long to get things stable. I just did the rock scrubbing thing too. I'll bring you a digi frag to the Oct. meeting. Luckily my frag tank wasn't affected.

The standard....a few hermits(red) and snails....

What is your phosphate and nitrate readings?

I haven't checked phosphates as the tank is just getting re-established. I use DI/RO water, so probably low. But Nitrates are very high.

I think what would be most helpful is if sometime this weekend I could get a cup each of established live sand (with critters and worms) from say 2-4 people to help reseed the sandbed that would be great!

Well, the tank is stable...YEAH!!!! The hair algea is basically gone...just need some snails for the diatom, cyano, and other film algae.

Ammonia is 0, Nitrite is 0, and Nitrates are < 1.0.

I'm gonna order some Garf Grunge to reseed the critters in my rock and sand (and 'fuge).

And a Reef Complete #3 from reeftopia.com to get a full compliment of janitors...I'll be ready to bug people for frags by the Oct 20th meeting!

I have a fist sized Birdsnest/Green Digi frag/Green mille frag I can spare now, all are very hardy as SPS go, and you could start back up with these now just to make sure.....may want to come get them, don't know if I will make it to the meeting yet.......LMK

Glad to hear that the tank is making a comeback. I've got a chunk of green slimer that was a portion of encrusting base from when I hacked it off the rock and move it. I've also got a small piece of tan with b.blue/purple poylp cap that I had to break off the other day because it grew into an acro and started getting stung, but it's healed up nicely. I've also got a 3/4" section of Tim's paletta baby blue acro that I want to frag to encourage the branch to grow again...LMk if you want them at this months meeting.
