Are those little string things hydoids?

Yeah, I see a couple from time to time in my tank. I remove them asap.

Are they a bad thing ? I always thought they were just misalanious life that grew on the live rock. Do they take over and kill corals or something ?

Yes, those two string things are digitate hydroids. I posted this pic in particular to demonstrate how they DON'T bother acro polyps at all. The only thing they stung in my mixed reef were zoas. Manual removal is pretty much impossible. Mine mostly died out on their own, not sure why/how.

Yeah thats the only thing mine bother. I have a lot of zoanthids so thats why I remove them right away. I dont know if I remove all of hydroid but I manage to pull about an inch or 2. I dont see them at that certain spot anymore. I just use a pair of tweezers.

I only see them when I stir up the sand or something, then they seem to all come out to get the detritus. I really only have SPS, will they hurt those? They really haven't seemed to hurt anything.
