post storm - how did your tank make out?

I didn't lose any corals but lost atleast one fish, maybe two. My generator crapped out at midnight and the tank went 16.5 hours w/o power - plus it got real cold with no furnace. To be honest, my fish are awesome but I think I would be more upset if I lost my coral.

No power outage for me however my return pump some how overheated and caused me to make a trip to Ultra Corals and Fish! Thankfully he had a Supreme Mag 7 in stock!

Same here...I have friends between you and me Joe (Hamburg) that are STILL without power. South Bethlem is still out too..I was supposed to work there Monday..still haven't made it there. My mother-in-law was out for about 8 hours and she's only a mile away. We has some flickers, but no outage.

I attribute my lack of power outage to the fact that I spent time pre-Sandy getting out the generator, testing the gas, checking the oil, finding all the extension cords...all the stuff I had to do in a blizzard the last time I needed it. :) I was ready, so of course we were fine...now I have to put it all away.

Nazareth, PA (Moore Township). Been out of power for 36+ hours now. Gotta love the efficiency of an MP40 on 25%, and a generous neighbor to let me steal a little power. Probably another 5 to 7 days to get power back. No losses yet. Glad everyone else is doing better.

Lost 2 fish. My flame angel was dead last night and my blue throat trigger bit the dust overnight. We know people 5 miles away that still do not have power.

The lights flickered a couple times.

Brad, let me know if you could use anything. Water, heat, etc.

Not the trigger!

He was in rough shape last night and I hoped he would pull through but it was too much for him. I got him out easily but the flame I couldn't get. I started pulling him out and something pulled him under a rock. I have a starfish but he was on the other side of the tank so I have a mystery animal in my tank feasting on a flame angel.

Power was out for around 36 hours just North of Pottstown, didn't have a generator or anything. Ran the sump pump for about 15 minutes every 4 hours off of a car battery with an inverter as well as put some hot water jugs into the sump to raise the temp a bit. Temp hit around 70 with no loses luckily.

I lost power Monday night and got it back Friday night. I ran 24 hours a day on a craftsman 5300 generator. No losses for once.

Now I hear there is a NorEaster heading our way for Wednesday/Thursday. High winds and rain/snow.

I hope this is not an indication of what this winter will be.

My new generator arrived Friday morrning. I'm not looking forward to using it, but we should be ready this time.

Lost power for 3 days. All fish, 99% corals and 4 of 5 clams died. Very close to pulling the plug on reefkeeping after 20+ yrs.

Don't pull the plug! There are many of us who were fortunate enough to survive without loses willing to help restock. Just look for the thread Tony started. Where are you located? I am in Pottsville (17901) and have softies and zoas I can work with

Thanks for the offer! Still not sure what I'm doing at the moment. It has been on autopilot since the storm b/c I've been too disgusted to do anything about it. I spent last Sunday douching the system and figured I'd wait a while to make a final decision. Ironically, the only thing that didnt die was my aiptasia and majano anemones. I think after the nuclear holocaust only cockroaches and these anemones will survive.
Thanks again for your generous offer.
Bill

I was out of power for close to 5 days. My nano was wiped out. I pulled all the rock out of the main tank. Disconnected the sump/refugium and have everything cycling in there with a skimmer and some water movement. I've made a few changes. I pulled the shallow sand bed out of the main tank. I'll have sand but only a very thin coating. I'll reaquascape this weekend and get everything back up and running. Does anyone have any really nice display macro I could buy? I'd really like a red. Maybe red grape or I've seen one called Dragon's Breath?
