Call me weird... I like looking at sumps. They we filter and process our water sets the way our animals grow and thrive... plus there are so many ways to do it.

No cheating, don't clean it up just snap the picture :D

50 gallon tank, 15 gallon sump

That zeo reactor is just filled with bagged carbon, 2Tbsp bagged GFO, and a couple biomass wafers. Gave up zeo a while back. VGV now.

tfp: how do you keep your phosphates down? i don't see chaeto or crushed rocks in the sump. .. Lots of water changes and clearing out detritus regularly? Nice tank by the way and very nice thread. I love sump pix!
 
Here is my sump. It is my first attempt at designing and building my own. I found a 40 tall, dissaseembled it and cut about 8 inches off of the top. I then put it all back together added some bubble traps and put it to work. Frankly there isn't enough room in it. The only think not in the pic is the gfo reactor. I soak carbon and I manually dose. I run a bean animal overflow and need more space to incorporate socks.
