potassium

You'll need to call Hanna, USA to see if the test would work in SW. Most of their tests will not.

I think Hanna has a test kit for Potassium (HI 38082). Please correct if I'm wrong.

Its a test kit for measuring potassium in the soil unfortunately.

Well 227 grams of KCl later and it reads "maybe" 50 ppm higher. What a piece of junk test. I have really good eyes but I really doubt the validy of this test kit.

90 tank, 110 sump 40 frag and big beckett skimmer, then minus rock I'll guess 200 of water. I usually dose for that much and it's pretty close.

That's what I had planned since the first test showed 225-250. I did that one twice since it was the first time I used it. I did this one twice since I didn't believe it. Now I'm showing just under the 300.

Either the test is junk or I have a potassium sink? Efficiently removed by my skimming? Rapid uptake by ??

it took me a bottle and a half to raise my 300 gallon tank and 125 gallon sump to 350/375

Does anyone reuse the zeolite rock (Zeovit)? One of a friend has done this couple times to reuse the old rock (he's exchanged and washed them with RO/Di water), So far, without effects on corals in his tank.

wrong topic here I think, I think you should go the other expert forum:D

I don't know I may try it.

Saurus left his stones in his tank for more than 10 weeks and he started having problems.. they told him that he had exhaused his stones....

if you take them out, deeply wash them with RO/Di water, then dry them for couple weeks before you reuse them. My friend has two lot using for cycle, clean one and use one. If you wash and dry them, they look new, fresh. Do you have canister filter? What would you do with the media rock inside the canister?

Well, if your pockets are really deep, and you're convinced that K measuring is important, looks like for about $540 you could get an ion selective probe and amplifier for K.

FWIW, we have and an 'all in one' analyzer at my work for cell culture samples. I've diluted tank water down to the right range and gotten results that seemed to make sense. The analyzer uses an ion selective probe for K.

Randy, any idea if K ion selective probe would get too much interference from other ions in salt water?
