Potential Flame Angel Problem; Supplier or in General?

I called the LFS I get roughly half of my fish through for a Flame Angel.

They've ordered me in a clown tang that I've had for nearly a year now. They've sold me many fish that I've had live many years.

Anyways they told me they've had enough $ loss on bringing the Flame Angels in, over the last 6 months, that they really would prefer not to bring any more in because they have an issue with eventually dying in QT.

Since they are a popular fish, after all, has anyone else noticed this, or have more insight?

Flame Angels have gone from being really quite hardy back in the early days of this hobby, to being quite difficult now. My presumption is that it's collecting practices, or perhaps where fish are sourced, but I've fine little actual sleuthing.

Try to get a specimen from Hawaii, Christmas Island, or Marshall Islands. Those locales apparently offer the best/healthiest livestock as far as flame angels go.

I sort of suspected this. I need to find a Hawaii, Christmas Island, or Marshall Islands since those are some of our better "tenants" of reef fish capture, from what I've learned and read over the yeas.

Cyanide is not used in the collection of fish from those regions, period, is it? So it's probably a cyanide problem similar to the collection / eradication of blue tangs in some areas?

0 for 2? So sad sorry to hear :(
