Potential issue?

I bought, probably against better judgement a baby maxima from LFS. It was attached to a piece of LR or rubble when I picked it out. I got home after a 40 minute drive the clam was no long attached. On the piece of LR is what looks like it's foot, clear and white in color and is diffently a piece of tissue.

Any concerns or worries that I should be aware of?

your fine, it is common for them to let go to move. being in the bag wasn't nice for him so he thought he would move. bury a small rock in the sand and place him on top, he will eventually re-attach.

I have him sitting on just a nice flat rock, which is on top of the sand bead. Or should I do it the way you suggested?

you may be fine, sometimes they fall over trying to move. it won't hurt them but you have to keep setting him back up. if you partially bury the rock then us sand to prop him up he should be able to move and turn with out falling over. i would say leave him alone and if he does fall over maybe try it the other way.

any pics :):

I wish I could take nicer pix, but here ya go..........

nice, how big is the crocea?

yes that is part of the byssal thread, it is ok. you don't want to see him dropping it often but during a move it can happen. as long as the gland is ok he will be fine.

I actually found a clear plastic food container, and old clam shell collect from the beach and put that and some sand it it. Should keep the critters out and I can target feed it.

that maxima must be tiny then. unfortunately the mortality rate is quite high when trying to raise small maxima's ( under 2" ). hopefully you'll be successful.
