I currently have a pair of potters who seem to be doing very well. Both picked up at LFS.
1.What size did you get him? - <3"
2. What was he eating when you got him? - showed interest in food at store. Had store keep for 2 weeks.
3. What size tank? - 60
4. What is he eating now? - Now eating Nori (I give 3 types red, green, and brown- one has garlic)- provided daily in a IM nori holder), and LRS reef prime mainly. Flake and pellets also eaten readily. Grazes on rocks for micro algae as well.
5. How long have you had him? - about 4 months now
6. Current size? - about same. Fat though.
7. Did he eat any corals? - No interest to date- mostly SPS but bubble coral, elegance, gonipora, xenia, zoanthids, clam, duncans- all left alone. Did chow down some tunicates on the live rock.
8. Any suggestions or tips - I think these travel very poorly. Store guy said it acclimated very roughly which is why I had them hold for a couple weeks. Acclimated rough when I took him home as well. Smaller one below did not have this issue.
Second one added after larger one was in there for about 2 months.
1.What size did you get him? - 1.25"
2. What was he eating when you got him? - showed interest in food at store and they said he was eating well already after just coming in 5 days earlier.
3. What size tank? - 60
4. What is he eating now? - LRS reef frenzy, flake mostly. Hasn't taken to nori on the holder yet from what I've seen. Mostly micro algae still from rocks.
5. How long have you had him? - about 2 months now.
6. Current size? - 1.5"
7. Did he eat any corals? - same as above- no issues.
8. Any suggestions or tips - In pairing I went large then small due to how they came in locally. The smaller one seemed more robust from the acclimation, but was more shy when introduced and a little slower to take to food (about a week until going after it from water column). They seem to mostly eat off something in the wild, not free floating from water column, so maybe anchoring foods would help initially. The larger one took to the nori first in a robust way the moment I put in in the tank.
