Potters angel?

I have a 36 gallon and would like to add a potters angel as my last fish. Does anyone have any expirience or tips on taking care of these fish? Would you guys recommend another type of dwarf angel? Thanks.

I've heard they like lower water temps. I've been researching them as well as I would like a pair. I was reading they like mid 70s water temp and can be really hard to feed in smaller tanks

I have heard that they like to have a bunch of live rock to forage on. That might be the problem with being kept in a small tank.

Lots of threads on keeping this fish .....

Summarized as not an easy dwarf angel to keep as it often does not eat. At a minimum, plenty of live rock should be supplied for grazing. 36 gallon is too small IMO. Not sure where the 'lower temps' come from as this is not a deepwater fish and resides in Hawaii. I've kept many and they do just fine in a mixed reef - as long as enough food is available.

Agree with Simon - definitely not a cooler water fish. They inhabit shallow reefs in Hawai'i where the water temperature is around 80 degrees.

I'm by no means an expert only have had mine for a short time. He is in a 40b, I went with a small one about 1.5-2". Have plenty of liverock for them to pick at. Also I feed fresh then frozen clam, mussle and oyster mix and he devours it. He also likes that Hikari angel food mixed with pe mysis. He is in a LPS dominated tank.

From what I read the smaller ones usually do better then larger ones when first introduced. Have plenty of liverock for them to graze on. I didn't qt mine but a lot of people recommend getting them eating and fattened up in qt. I also read once you get them eating and comfortable they are fairly hardy and easy to care for like other Angels. A lot of people in the past reported mystery deaths after a year or so.

In my 28 Jbj I have a cherub angel that doesn't nip on any SPS or my clam, I also have a flameback in a fowlr and he is also very easy to take care of. All 3 of them are model citizens and do not bother corals, fish or inverts. I love angel fish and eventually I would love to have a very large tank and have some of the big Angels. They are my favorite species of fish.

I was just saying that there is a lot of info if you google it about potters temp being 74-78, so it was confusing and should be read up on first

Potters occur in few meters of water to more than 50 meters...blue color morphs found at depths in excess of 50 meters.
My temps ave around 74 over the year...

I've been looking at a bunch of stuff online. I never seen anything specifically on it has to be in cold water everything says 72-78 or 72-80
