I was interested in buying a Potter Angel but wanted to get info on this beautiful fish. Is this fish able to be kept in tanks successfully? Any1 have one adn able to give info? Any info will help thanks :jester:

Good Luck! I have a 55g with about 80 pounds of LR...and I have tried them twice! Both were eating live brine when I got them and everything...but both within a month died. I have heard of people keeping them but I can only try things twice before I give up!!

I agree with Brett. I've had 2 and both died. Other angels, flames etc. do great in my tanks. Never had any luck with the potters angel though

a potters can't be sustained off of brine...

It all depends who caught them. Collection goes a very very long way with this fish. If it was at all roughed up, they are guarenteed to die within a month or 2.

Get a small one. Get it to eat ALTEAST mysis.. then try other meaty foods, such as shrimp, squid, scallop. then get them to eat pellets.. try angel formula as well.

First one I had I lost soon after . The next I had lived for quite a few years and would eat anything. A tank with live rock is a must. Hit or miss type of fish, but if you get one to acclimate then they are as easy as any other pygmy angel

I had a small one! when I go to the wholesaler...if I can get a fish to eat brine its usually a good sign it will switch to other food! But I havent had any success with Potters switching it to froozen or spectrum. The 2nd one I tried was less then 1" and it only lasted about 3 weeks. I had a venustus go from live brine to froozen and then spectrum within a month but another fish stressed it out. If you have any luck with one let us know...I know I got to choose from about 15...and only one would eat!

Even meaty foods aren't enough for C. potteri in the long term. Lots of available algae (filamentous preferably, though 'nori' and the like work) and some detritus are the key to long term health.

i had mine for a year and a half and never had a problem :) eats everything inlcuding garlic peices. i would not put this animal has a hard to keep first u gotta start out with atleast frozen food. now the fish eats flake outta my hand

they will eat seaweed.

Wholesalers dont usually treat fish with special needs any differently then an indestructable one.

I know a potters can't live off just meaty foods, but it is the best way to gain some mass on them.
