Powder Blue and his actions

I have put in a powder blue and a auriga butterflyfish into my aquarium 4 days ago. My powder blue is acting strange. To me it looks like he is fascinated with his image. He goes up and down the wall of the aquarium. He still swims openly, he just spends a majority of his time there. Is this just new tank behavior? Should i be worried?

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, he's probably just mistaking his own reflection for another tang. Assuming the tank is big enough this is totally normal. No worries.

It may very well be "normal" but some details about your system would help. Tank size, age, filtration (amount of live rock), current water parameters, acclimation procedure, use of a proper QT, etc......

The more you can give us the more we can help.

Yes this is the 65 gallon system. The tank is 3 foot wide. He is about 3 inches long. The tank is seeded with a rock from my old Tank along with a big bottle of bio spira. It is good for 75 gallons. I did a water test yesterday. Had no ammonia or nitrites and between 0 and 5 nitrates. The tank is 4 days old. I planned on keeping him until he was to big for the system and then re-homing him.

I got him from blue zoo. He was floated for 30 minutes and dripped for 2 hours. Using polyp lab medic to kill any diseases. Dont have any room for a qt

Now would be when he is to big for that tank. This is what he is doing :headwalls: No place to swim..

Not to mention i just do not think the tank is mature enough for such a fish even if the tank was of the correct size..

Good Luck ...

I have the same 65 build, as my main tank, 8 months old when i got my powder blue. the day i put him in was the day he became too big for the tank very aggressive and acting erratically until i returned him to the LFS these guys really do need a min. of 100 gallons. when i got him he was about 3 1/2 inches.
