Powder Blue QT question

I got a nice Powder Blue.

I have it in a QT, 10 gallon, bare bottom, PVC and a fake coral to hide behind.

I have Nori (sushi) in the tank on a clip.

How long should I QT her?

Should I treat her for anything, even if she looks ok?

Thanks

if you want to do it "right" all the way 6 weeks and put her through hyposalinity..

but if she looks healthy, i would put her in after a few weeks of observation...

salinity is 1.20, I can drop it to 1.18 easy.

So far she looks nice... I will try and get pics in the next couple days.

I'd do a full 30 day hypo at 1.009. It won't hurt the fish, provided you go slow and keep the pH up to a reasonable level, so there's no downside other than a few weeks of work. And PBT's are *so* prone to stress and illnes, I think it's worth the effort.

Anything higher than 1.009 and you won't kill any possible ick; anything less gets too stressful for the fish.

Good how-to article here:

I have a Powder Blue Tang for almost 5 years now. Wonderful fish and eats anything I put in. I have about a dozen of other fish in my tank and last year I added a newly purchased fish (did not quarantine) and the only fish that came down with ich was my PBT.

UV is only effective for stuff in the water column.

Many of the fish problems are internal, or as in Ich, attached, and not free swimming for long.
