Powder Blue Tang and Gracilaria Algae

On Saturday, I purchased a PBT and he is currently in my 30G QT tank. He currently goes crazy for PE mysis (I chop them into pieces since he's on the smaller side) but he hasn't shown any interest in any Nori yet. I've been attaching it to a piece of LR but no luck. This PBT is very plump and after eating the mysis it's belly looks like it swallowed a marble! :)

I was contemplating buying some red gracilaria algae since I know in the past my purple tang would go crazy for this stuff.

Anyone have a PBT that likes this? Also, how long did it take for your PBT to eat Nori?

In my past experiences with Tangs, they usually go after it pretty quickly, but this guy's not interested thus far although I've only had him for 4 days.

I had the same issue with mine. at the beginning it would only eat PE mysis as well. What I did after a week of trying without success is put some garlic scent on the nori and put it to a clip against the glass. Did the same for flakes. Now it eats anything I put in the tank. The only thing it doesnt eat is the little bit of hair algae that I get on a couple rocks (neither does my yellow tang, weird).

Thanks fkeeper, I'm assuming you just soaked the nori in garlic extract? Any issues with the nori breaking apart faster in the tank? My tank has pretty high flow.

i have a 5" PBT for about 2 months. he'll eat pellets, flakes, and nori. wont touch PE mysis and i feed my DT PE mysis 2-3x/day.

My powder blue tang wouldnt eat anything but the red gracilaria algae for the first month and half untill I finally got him eating pellets and mysis.
