Powder Blue Tang Compatability

I currently have a 3" Yellow Tang and about a 2" Hippo Tang in my 175g, that get along great. I am wanting to add a Powder Blue that is about 4". Will this Tang combination work??

Other tankmates include 3 Disbar Anthias, 3 Chromis, two clowns, few gobies, six line Wrasse, bicolor blenny, and a PJ Cardinal. Overall a very peaceful tank and I want to keep it that way.

Any advice is appreciated in advance!

You have a good chance of it working given the size differences and the different type of tangs, but it will depend on the personalities of the particular fish. If your yellow is aggressive and the pbt is passive (unlikely), there may be some issues. I expect the pbt will just assert itself if bothered unless the yellow is a particularly strong fish. Your tank is big enough for the fish to get along and not feel crowded.

I doubt there will be a problem. Maybe a little squeamish early on with the yellow and pbt, but they'll work it out. PBT seems to be very hit and miss. Some people will have a tough time with them. Mine is really mellow and doesnt bother any other fish. An occasional flashing at the achilles, but nothing for me to worry about.

Yeah, I'd expect some pecking order stuff as the PBT asserts himself and probably becomes the alpha fish. Be sure to use a QT (as with all fish), PBTs are real ich-prone.

i have had a 5" PBT in QT for 4 months now. The first 6 weeks or so making certain he was eating well and bug free, then a month recovering from the beating my yellow tang gave him when i introduced him to the display. The hippo tang of similar size hid the entire time so I could not see the interaction, the yellow tang had no part of it.

I had lights off, nori hanging from both sides, placed a couple of mirrors in the corners to add as a distraction.

I think my YT is just a problem.
