Powder Blue Tang Food?

What exactly do they eat? Are the pellet and flake fish food good enough or is there something else they would prefer?

As with all tangs you need to feed algae as well. This can be in the form of algae sheets from the LFS or unseasoned nori from asian supermarkets.

Thanks! How often should I feed it and what size should i make the algae sheets into??

I would feed half a sheet every 2- 3 days. You are best off buying an algae clip from your LFS. Its much easier than trying to attach the sheet to a rock

In addition to the nori (which by the way I feed mine a half a sheet twice a week), give it a good varied diet.

I picked up some sheets of sea-weed today and put it on a clip to go indside my tank. I got the fish yesterday...is it normal for it to not eat the first couple days as it gets used to its new home?

My PBT loves frozen Emerald Entree, Marine Cuisine and Mysis. I feed nori soaked in vita-chem and garlic guard 2-3X aweek.

That's normal. Give it a couple of days to settle in and soak the food with garlic to entice your PBT to eat.

This might sound like a dumb question but im still learnig sooo..lol when you say you soak it in garlic guard do u let it sit and soak for a certain period of time or do you just put it on the Nori and then put it right in the tank?

If you put a couple drops on the nori, it will soak and you can feed it within a couple minutes.

I feed at least 40% algae to my tangs. They really like the Julian Sprungs purple aglae sheets.

I have a algae clip with fishing line tied to it. Put the strip in and drop to the bottom. It's eaten within 2 minutes.

For the remainder of the diet I feed a variety of Frozen foods and New Life Spectrum Ther-A pellets.

Your 225 gal should be a nice home for him. Cool fish.

There're no dumb questions here because we all started new at one point or another plus that's why we are here to learn.

I put like 10 drops or so of vita-chem or selcon (vitamins) and 10 drops of garlic guard on nori sheet and tie it to a piece of rubble or small magnet and place it in the tank. In the ocean they learned to eat off rocks but in our tank it may take longer for them to eat off clips. As for frozen food I put about 10 drops of vita-chem and pour a good amount of garlic guard in the cup and soak for 10-15 minutes before feeding.

Here's a picture with nori on a magnet
