Powder blue tang?

i would like to be educated on this fish. are they usualy shy? ick prone? temperment?

from what i have seen they tend to be rather shy, should be the only tang in the tank and i have heard they are prone to get ich and fungus pretty easy. is this true?

after being in the tank for abit do they become more social and stay in the open more?

sorry, i found all the info beside if they will stop being shy. didnt think to look for a primer thread.

so how about the shyness? didnt find a straight answer on that yet.

Ive had a couple PBT's, none of them have been shy at all. My recommendation would be to add the PBT last. They have a tendency to become aggressive after adding a fish.

They can be timid when first introduced to a tank, especially a QT tank. They often won't eat at first, except for maybe some algae. QT is great for these fish, both for disease, and acclimation to aquarium life.

Smaller specimens are more timid, especially if there are other tangs in the same tank; larger individuals aren't shy at all after they are well established, IME.

:fun5:My was shy at fist then he just became aggressive toward other tangs.I feed my alot of brine shrimp and green seaweed and i have not seen no ick at all.:dance:

yea, i found that last night right after i posted. lots of good info bt i didnt really find a straight answer on if the fish would stay shy or skidish.

+1 Watched mine at the lfs for 2 weeks watched him eat and everything.Brought him home qt'd him for 3 weeks all good.Put him in the display and not 2 days later showed ick and died.:uzi: Will never buy another PBT.

How big was the qt tank? Did it have enough water movement? What size dt did you transfer it to? What were it's tankmates? Enough water movement/hiding places in the dt? A fish doesn't just 'get ich'. If you can narrow down what may have caused the stress on the fish, you might be able to avoid that same stress in the future and successfully keep a pbt.

Just sounds like your main display has ich... totally possible, with no signs on your established fish.
