Got a new powder blue tang. Qt went fine. Put him in my main tank and Its been about a week. Thing is he won't eat. Well he picks at rocks all day and will attack the nori when I feed the tank but seems to show little interest in mysis , brine shrimp and krill

Last couple days he has ate one or 2 pieces just to spit it out. I saw him eat mysis in qt. But will admit it didn't attack them maybe ate one or 2. Should I be worried or is this fish still learning that mysis is food Also no visible signs on fish and stomach is still fat

Nori should be the basis of his diet anyway, so if eating that I'd just give it time. The other things will help pad on some fat but he should be fine with just the nori until he sees others eating the other stuff enough to simply want his share.

I though so just wanted to get second opinion. I heard powder blues where mean fish. But I find this fish very skittish and it swims all over my tank in and out of rocks. I know it's still early this fish will start acting more and more normal.

I'm only in the just got it wet stage of my new build and my "wife's" powder blue will likely be last. I had one in the past and it was also skittish for a few months, then one day decided he was king of the ocean, lol.

Well my yellow tang who is half its size is in trouble. Because my yellow keeps bothering it.

You might want to try some Spirulina flakes. These things pack quite a punch for such a small package. The PBT might not except it at first, but if the YT does one out of two ain't bad.

Oh I got 5 tangs and 27 fish in my tank now. They all eat like bigs. My hippo and blue throat trigger are biggest pigs out there. Just this is my first powder and never really had a tank that ate nori but wouldn't eat when I feed the tAnk

Anthony, would you have a build thread or any other thread that includes all stock you have? With my tank of similar size and my desired residents not fully settled it may give me more ideas :)

No I don't really too lazy to type it all and add pictures. But basically I have main tank 265 upstairs. I got a precession marine custom 200 gallon sump. 6x2x2 witch is in basement then I have 2 80 gallon frag tanks and my old 57 rimless I set up
With 9 inches of dsb thst I keep nicer Macro algae in. Also use 2 uv and run Gfo. Also I have the nyos quantum 220 skimmer. That skimmer is quite and a beast. Would recommend it to anyone some pictures

Tank is only 14 weeks old. So main tank is still pretty empty with corals

It was the stock list I was most curious about. LOL, although other than pure space limitations you certainly have much, much less to worry about than me on bio-load! I sure do miss having a basement. Well, maybe not, Florida instead of Wisconsin winters is a better trade and I'll live without a basement, lol.

Oh fish
2 clowns , 2 gobies, 2 cleaner wrasses , 2 fairy wrasses, 1 flasher, coral beauty , flame angel , 2 Bellus angel ,3 bang cardinals blue throat trigger, naso, chevron, hippo , yellow powder blue tang, 6 antheis
That's in main tank
In the others 4 damsel, rabbit fish , blue reef chromis , algae blennie , 5 Molly's
will be adding probably 4 more fish

Currently run nitrates at .05 and less. Not the best at reading colors. And phosphates are .25. But that's because I used 200 lbs of old rock from someone's tank and was too lazy to cure it. Rather waste the money of Gfo then do the work to cure it.
