Has anyone tried keeping a group of PB tangs? David Saxby appears to have two from the video I've watched, curious if anyone with a large system has given it a try.

The only tank I've seen numerous PBT kept sucessfully is at The Long Island Aquarium formally know as Atlantis Marine World....Joe Yaiullo's tank vid in the thread above.

I would not be able to imagine the cost of feeding that tank! Looks like one feeding is as much food as I feed in a month or two.

To keep multiple PBTs, you need a very large tank.

With appropriate aquascaping, that tank might work. I have a friend with one that size. I think longer would be even better, it is not a gallonage issue.

Like Steve said, it may work. I would add a foot or two more if you can and make it a little shorter. That is just me though.

10' long is the most I can fit in the spot the tank is going. I'm not sure an extra foot or two would make difference, but never tried!

Not many of us have that kind of aquatic real estate to work with so I feel like most if not all of our opinions are speculative based on smaller systems. It is really hard to say whether it will work or not until it is attempted.

I have thought about this idea for a long time and for me the largest obstacle would be QTing several specimens at once because ideally they would all be introduced at the same time.

I have no experience with multiple PBT. I did see a film on TV where 2 PBT kept guard over a patch of algae. A school of convict tangs descended on them and ate all their algae, despite the best efforts of the PBT's.

The reason I mention this is that I am wondering if PBT prefer to stake out a section of the reef as their own, and are not really a schooling fish per se. If so, then you may be in for trouble trying more than a mated pair in a tank.
