Powder Brown Tang Not Eating

Anyone have any tips on getting a powder brown to eat? I have tried everything from frozen, to nori, to fresh, and even veggies. Any ideas??

Look at my thread i had the same issue as you except im dealing with a powder blue tang. I fw dipped mine on the 3rd day, and honestly i think thats what saved him.. now he's eating. You may be dealing with a case of flukes like i was, when i fw dipped mine i saw alot of junk come out. Good luck.

Nope, he's the biggest and the only tang. No one bothers him. He's still pretty new, I picked him up yesterday. He looks fat and happy, no bones visable and great coloration. Just doesn't want to eat.

It might just take some time. Believe it or not it takes a fish quite a while before they truly feel comfortable in a captive setting. I had a blonde naso and bandit that refused food for a week and 3 weeks respectively, until one day they just gobbled up the pellets I put in the tank now they eat almost everything that drops inside the aquarium. Don't give up and keep adding food, maybe try an additive like garlic or entice.

Live blackworms...nori broken up and floating about the water column might work...once she realizes what it is, she may eat the whole sheet...good luck...

When I feed, should I turn off all the pumps, some of the pumps, none of the pumps? My other fish eat great and chase the food around the tank with the pumps on. My other fish include 2 Bangaii Cardinals, Scribble Face Rabbit, 6 Blue Green Chromis, and a Blue Mandarin currently feeding frozen mysis, Nori sheets, and instant ocean flake with a good mix of veggies for the tang. The Mandarin gets plenty of pods from my fuge. Anything else you think I should be adding to their diet? I will try live black worms today, when I feed the black worms, what is the best way to do so?

Thanks!

You can turn them off so the food does not get blown all about...the live worms may trigger a feeding response...just drop a few worms in the tank on the same side the pb is on...I might even do this several times during the day to see her reaction...please remember to turn the pumps back on...I had a girlfriend turn off my pumps to feed and she forgot to turn back on...lost my Clarion, Hawaiian Flame breeding pair, and Queen...huge bummer...

Yea, not turning the pumps back on is a huge mistake! Luckily mine are on a RKL so they come back on automatically so my wife can't kill my fish! Should I be feeding the PBT while the halides are on?

can leave the lights off...let her be as comfortable as possible...providing she doesnt go to sleep, lol...let her learn to associate you with food...if she is comfortable with lights on can try feeding that way...may want to try with them on so she sees the worms wiggling around...

It seems that the lights being on or off doesnt change her behavior. She is def a swimmer, she swims back and forth across the tank a lot and in and out of the rock work. She doesnt really spend much time in any one place. Is this normal for PBT?

they are huge swimmers and need lots of tank, so yes, very typical behavior...how big is your tank...did you qt her? they are ich magnets...live food may get her going...

Its a 125, And SHES EATING!! I was on my way to get live black worms, which I still went ahead a got and while on the way there, the wife called and said she is eating Nori from a clip! Thanks for all your input guys! Very helpful!
