Powder Brown Tang problem

Hi i would post this in the Fish Disease forums but its always empty. My question is are powder brown tangs really that hard to keep. I have had one for over a year now when i first got him he got ick i put him in my QT for 6 weeks then back in the DT he did great then about 4 months after he got ick again put him back in QT for 6 weeks I was using Hyposalinity to treat him then put him back in my DT he was doing good. Now it looks like he has ick again also right above his eyes
it looks like his skin is coming of not sure what it is but its white stuff i will see if i can get a pic of it. My other fish in the tank are doing great
i have a yellow tang and a Ocellaris Clownfish and i did put all the fish in my QT at the same time. So i am really thinking about taking the tang to my lfs and getting a more easy tang to keep i mean i really like my PBT but just tired of putting them back in QT and seeing my DT empty thx

Yes they are difficult when it comes to ich. As far as running them in the q-tank; did you keep the display tank fishless for 4-6 weeks while you treated the tang? If not, the parasite was still going strong when you put the tang back into the display.

Sorry, I just read that you did keep the display fishless for about 4 weeks. Really the I feel the quarantine process should go four weeks after the last sign of ich in the q-tank. So 6-8 weeks would be better. Temp is also important since lower temps slow the life cycle of ich.

I am not really sure if it is A.Nigricans or A.Japonicus when i got it it just said powder brown tang. And i did keep my DT fishless for 6 weeks and i keep my temp at 78-81

I don't think he has HLLE i have seen pics of it and my tang looks nothing like. My water is all good i do 20gl water changes ever other week and i have been feeding the fish Formula Two, supper veggie flake food i will also give them frozen brine shrimp soaked in selcon here are some pics hope they come out ok

The A.Nigricans rarely does well in captivity.

most tang get ick once in a while, they fight it off alone unless really stressed.

Powder * tang are ick magnet so, be prepare to get it often

That is totally A.Japonicus, better suited to the name "white cheek tang" or gold rim tang.

A.Nigricans is the traditional "pbt"

A.Japonicus is also better suited to aquarium life, most of them do quite well in captivity.
