powder brown tang

Unless it is someone who has 12 tangs in a big tank I doubt you will find anyone that has. Acantharus tangs tend to be very aggressive towards each other.

I was looking at the powder brown/blue and my mom came home one day and surprised me with a brown on the same day I bought myself the blue. So i tried it out with them together and it didnt go so swell to say the least. Had to separate them and return one

i went ahead and bought a powder brown,he is small so i put him in my reef tank until he gets bigger and then i will put him in the fowlr 110 and pray they coexist.

I can't keep any tangs with my powder brown at all. I just tried a regal last week and had to pull it out within 24 hours. I was lucky to catch him.

I thought powder browns were one of the least agressive. I would have love to have a powder brown and a yellow tang in the same tank.

well i guess i will have to upgrade the reef tank as the powder brown grows........also i plan on upgrading my oceanic 110 to at least a 180 in the next few months.

powder blues are one of the most aggressive tangs there is. They can put a beat down on about any other, except for maybe a yellow that is established. They are WAY more aggressive than the browns.

I would say clown, sohal, and achilles can be more aggressive. Putting a powder brown and powder blue together in anything but the largest of aquariums is a recipe for disaster though.

I have a small 4 inch Powder Blue in my 240 with a Yellow Tang, Sailfin Desjardini Tang, Clown Tang, Blonde Naso Tang, Emperor Angel, and Majestic Angel. He Sailfin tries to push him around sometimes and so does the Yellow but the Powder Blue holds his own. They are some Beautifull fish.

just goes to show you what the lfs knows, they told me they would get along fine especially
in a big tank like a 110.i should have done my research.

my powder blue pimped my whole tank around...the naso yellow salfin.. he did work big time after a few days they all settled in and let him be the boss and everything was peaceful...but for the day the powder brown was in the tank my blue wouldnt stop fighting even with all the lights off i couldnt stop him

why so the powder brown can upset the yellow off and get walked on.....yellow tangs are very bold yeallow ,purple, sohal, powder blue, and achilles are very territorial would not do it if i was you.

congrats ashtroid on your 50th post and to everybody who posted i appreciate the advice.it really is nice to have a place to go and get answers so quickly.thanks, DH

Powder blue should take over in few days if survive... Once I tried to add 2 inch PBlue with an established 2.5 in powder brown... well never seem so colorfull PBrown... I removed the PBrown and let PBlue settle down for 3 days, when start feeding , I returned the PBrown... 30 minutes later , 6 month PBrown was shreeded in my QT tank ...after 1 month recovering ... I gave him to a friend... one strange fact is that PBlue damage took a long time to recover in PBrown... other fishes casual damages usually heals in few days...

So unless you have a 1000 g tank and plans to add several tangs together... don't try... you will loose the bet...
