Power Heads, should they stay on all day?

Hey guys, I have a question for everyone. Is it good to have the power heads on continuously? or a few hrs throughout the day? What is everyone else doing? Do these power heads stress out the fish?

You leave them on all day/night.. (never turn them off)
The fish have no problems with them..

In fact, if you have no other good sources of gas exchange, the fish (and corals) need them.

I'm sure there is some wack study out there showing that the noise may elevate the stress levels of fish but come on.. really?
Are we supposed to maintain silent library like conditions in our life because we have a fish tank.. Thats totally silly..
Where does the insanity stop...

I use simple timers to alternate them and my wave makers so the flow pattern is in constant change.

I am pretty sure the ocean is a lot more nosier that a tank. And I ahve put my head under the water in both :D

The motion of the ocean doesn't stop, and it's far more powerful than the surge we can create in our tanks. Fish need to exercise, for one thing.
