power heads

hi every one I need some new power heads I just had one die and I need to replace it I have a 125 gal tank what would be a good flow rate for this tank and what is a good power head I'm running two cheaper heads know but I think I would like to up grade

I made the switch to the gyre from vortech. You'll get a lot of different opinions on this topic and a lot of people loyal to certain brands. While the build quality of Vortechs seems a little better then the Maxspect Gyre in my opinion creates better flow with less deep spots and can be positioned in more places the conventional powerheads. Meaning you can place them near the surface of the tank as they draw water from the bottom where with Vortech pumps on my 18 inch deep tank had to positioned basically deep center otherwise they would move the would lift substrate if to low or create a whirlpool and blow bubbles from the surface if to high. For me having them in the middle was a issue as they would basically blast the corals all day and I would still have dead spots and not enough surface agitation. That's just my opinion.

some of the other pro's I would say is the controller can run 2 pumps which saves some coin and have less things to plug in. For myself cord management and fewer things to plug in on my energy bar is also a pro. You could also argu this is a con because you loose redundancy in the case of failure. These are all things you'll have to weigh. Last thing I compared was battery back up. Ecotech system I would say has a slight advantage because there system is slightly less exspensive where Maxspect uses a second party power supply Ice cap.

Made the switch from jebao to tunze . My original 300g build was all jebao rw-15. Got 3 of them dried up on my shelves and my 5yr old tunze are back in the tank.

Walk away from jebao unless you dont mind replacing 8-12 months in.

Jebao no warranty, email, phone number, customer service. Chinese taking advantage of americans

ya I run jedao and that's the problem they only last 8-12 months that's why I was asking for some other options if the more expensive are worth the investment brs has a really good sale going on right know

I've been running 2 Jebao RW15s in my 120 for over a year. Both are still working great. I'm running them between 35% and 100% with my controller.

PP8s are going to be way underpowered in a 125g. Go with RW20s or PP15s.

Between the Jebaos and Maxspect Gyres, of course I'd go with Maxspect, but you need to have the disposable income to part with.

well I went with tunze 6055 it seems to work alright I'm going to get one more for the other side and link them together to see if I can get a better wave thks for the help again

You can buy them from reefbreeders with warranty and customer service. I've had my 2 RW8's running for over 2 years now...so not everything is as you describe it.
