I am really sorry to hear of the dank deaths of some of the members. Before I had reef tanks, I had 4 days of no juice due to a line down. I have considered some options to cope with our current energy problems. I purchased a 12 volt boat bilge pump that puts out 500 gph. I have 3 105 amp batteries in my bass boat plus more in several cars. I plan to get a generator for the tanks and my freezer and fridge. I have a Ted line off my main pump as a bleeder to the sump. I purchased a barb fitting and some hose to allow me to connect the bilge pump to the plumbing. I also got a plug to block the inlet of my regular pump, otherwise, most of the flow goes out the bottom into the sump insted of up to the tank. I can run the generator during the day to run the tank, fridge and freezer. They will keep cold over night or longer if you don't open them much, and power the 3 bank charger in my boat. This setup works well and only cost about $40 since I had the batteries. One battery will power the pump at least 18 hours.
